CHELSEA Phaire

Age 12, Danbury, Connecticut

At 5 Chelsea had a desire to help others! Once she learned that she was too young to join other service organizations, she decided she would find her own way to help.

At Chelsea’s 10th birthday party she asked her guests, in lieu of gifts for herself, to bring art supplies so that she could officially launch Chelsea’s Charity Inc.! Chelsea is now able to create art kits for children in diverse communities that lack access to art supplies, or for children that have been through traumatic experiences to support their mental health and social-emotional development. She creates kits every week with the help of her little brother, and the donations from others contribute to the supplies for art kits. In addition, she has made adult art kits and distributed them to Veterans in her community to show appreciation for their service. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Chelsea visited different sites to distribute her art kits, give mini-art lesson and speak with children about how she uses art to overcome challenging situations and when she needs to express herself.

Bethany Moultry

Age 7, Savannah, Georgia

Bethany is 7 and the founder of Bethany's Happy Bags. The motivation to create Bethany's Happy bags came after she a homeless man holding up a sign at the age of 5. The bags are being packed by the students at The Matthew Reardon Center for Autism. This teaches them valuable skills they will be able to utilize in their daily lives and at future jobs. The Happy Bags are distributed through the Savannah Police Department as well as several other local agencies and organizations. Bethany has given out over 3,000 bags!

Bethany gives back to her community by helping out at a local food pantry, packing boxes of food at food banks and picking up litter in her city. In her free time she enjoys bird watching, going to the beach, camping and spending time with friends and family. Her future goals include creating safe and stable housing by building tiny homes for those who are experiencing homelessness and giving out Happy Bags all across the country.

Kollin Matthews

Age 6, Atlanta, GA

At a young age, Kollin Matthews understands the need for kindness and generosity in the world. That might have to do with the fact that he was born into a family of active givers, including his big brother, CJ, who started his charitable work at five years old. He seeks ways to make a difference at home, school, and beyond and loves participating in all his brother's projects. But more than that, Kollin loves creating projects of his own and participating in events like the Sesame Virtual Fun Run, in which he raised $250 for his 5th birthday to support the company's educational programs in 2021. This tiny change agent is making a name for himself in the generosity movement, proving he's no sidekick.

Rafael Lorenzana

Age 16, Philippines

I am a 16-year-old who believes that everyone has a responsibility to give, and to take care of each other. When I'm not at school, I love to spend time playing a variety of sports, especially basketball. During the pandemic, the Philippines imposed one of the strictest lockdowns in the world and minors were not allowed to leave their homes. Playing sports was an important part of my well being, and I knew that not being able to play was detrimental to people's mental and physical well being.

In 2020, I founded BC Basketball to help underprivileged children with a love for basketball pursue the sport despite the challenges they face. Our goal is to provide them with resources such as online basketball lessons, ball drives, and mentorship. Our activities equip them with skills to build an attitude of resilience, teamwork and perseverance, which also empowers them so that they can progress beyond their current situation. Since we started, BC Basketball has worked with over 300 children in the Philippines.

Also, as Spark youth leader of GivingTuesday Philippines, I work with schools, youth volunteers and NGOs on various activities and year-round campaigns such as #readtogether to promote the spirit of genero

Michael Platt

Age 15, Bowie, Maryland

I’m a baker + food justice advocate. When I was 11 years old, I started a 1-for-1 baking business - for every cupcake I sell, I donate one to people experiencing homelessness, living in domestic violence shelters or transitional housing. It brings them joy - which I believe that everyone deserves. I also started a non-profit P.L.L.A.T.E. which provides non-perishable, healthy snack packs for kids who may be food insecure so they can have easily accessible + healthy snacks with them, right at their fingertips.

Jayden Perez

Age 13, New Jersey

I’ve been spreading kindness since I was 8 years old, from helping people, children + pets after hurricanes struck Puerto Rico + Florida to speaking on anti-bullying. Last year, I joined the Kidbox 2018 Kids Board of Directors. I’m also the president of my own nonprofit called From The Bottom of My Heart. I hope to inspire the young generation to make a difference. I want to change the world - one act of kindness at a time.

Chris “C.J.” Matthews

Age 15, Atlanta, GA

I was only five years old when my family experienced a devastating pregnancy loss. Grieving my unborn sister, Karsen Angelica, inspired me to create a project to support other kids who might be dealing with similar feelings of sadness. I told my mom that I never wanted another kid to feel as sad and lonely as I did, and Blankies 4 My Buddies was born.

My small project has since grown into an organization that brings small tokens of comfort to children facing traumatic situations. We help kids dealing with issues like from chronic illnesses to homelessness and donate a blanket for each one that’s purchased. I’m plan to build a social enterprise to globally support kids in need and am writing a children’s book series.

Raziel Ramos

Age 15, Puerto Rico

Hi! I’m Raziel! I’m in the Honor Society at school and taking advanced coding and programming classes. Where I live, within 3 yrs, we’ve had 2 back-to-back hurricanes; one a category 5 and it destroyed my island. Then, came earthquakes and now the Coronavirus pandemic. All of this made me realize that solidarity in times of need is what makes a difference.

Advocacy is in my blood. My mother works with nonprofits and is part of GivingTuesday PR. Through her experiences I’ve learned that nonprofits truly make a difference in people’s lives. As a programmer, I prefer to do advocacy and volunteerism backstage; everyone is different and the way they give back should reflect that. (Introverts and ambiverts of the world unite!). I also like to do fundraisers for different causes through videogames and technology! In the future I plan to use technology to champion the causes I care about. I’m also an advocate for kids with disabilities. I have Asperger’s but I don’t let it define me or what I can achieve because I have the ability to see and think differently.

When I discovered frogs are indicator species, I knew it was a clear sign that our planet needs help. Scientists say that if we don’t change the way we treat our planet then our future will face some serious consequences. My mission is to conserve 30% of the planet by 2030 by protecting our rainforests and cleaning up our waterways so there isn’t more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050. So far, I’ve raised enough money to protect 30 acres of land in Ecuador and I am working on changing laws and working with big businesses to help keep plastics from polluting our planet. My Love for Frogs keeps me inspired to stay motivated and determined to create positive changes for our planet!

Kenny conners

Age 13, Toronto, Canada

I'm Kenny. I live in the coolest city. Growing up in downtown Toronto, I get to see people with lots of money, some with less + others with nothing. I've always been a creative person, + I appreciate art. However, I particularly love fashion. I love cool designs worn by Tyler the Creator, but I’m still young so I can’t exactly buy that stuff. Clothes is about being comfortable with yourself. Some kids are made fun of for wearing old clothes + this bothers me a lot. So, I had this idea that I could make dyed t-shirts for those kids that don't have the money to buy something new. Fashion makes you more confident + I want everyone to be able to stand proud.

Ijeoma Conley

Ijeoma Conley

Age 12, Chicago, IL

Hi, I'm Ijeoma Noel Conley, but you can call me Ije. I'm 12 years old and I started Ije Cares on my 11th birthday to help people in Nigeria. Instead of receiving presents, I asked for donations to buy school supplies, desks, and chairs. Motivated by the success of my 11th birthday, I continued my mission. Through the incredible generosity of others, I raised more funds and used them to install a borehole in Abagana, a small village in Nigeria.  Now the community has access to clean water, which is something we take for granted.I got the idea for Ije Cares when I was studying Africa in school. My teacher, Mrs. Cline, and my mom helped me set up a virtual meeting with some students in Nigeria. I learned that they don't have access to clean water and their classrooms are very different from ours. It made me really sad, but it also made me want to do something to help. Nigeria is also close to my heart because my grandfather was born there. I hope to inspire other youth to give back and make a difference. Even though we're young, we can still do big things! GIVING IS ESSENTIAL!

Bell organizes educational initiatives for underprivileged students across the globe, providing them with workshops, books, technology, appliances, and utilities. With support from the United Nations as a UNA-USA Global Goals Ambassador and more, Okezue has reached over 75,000 students across 80 countries and provided $3.5 million in value to the vulnerable, and activated over 120,000 students, teachers, and other professionals to volunteer action. Age 17, Port Saint Lucie, Florida

Spark Leader, Nazhi, founded Nazhi Thee Baker Angel Foundation with sister Italiyah Forrest. Nazhi says, “I have been baking for a few years now and I have also battled Sickle Cell Anemia since birth. One thing that makes me unique is that my two sisters also are fighting sickle cell! All three of us have a rare sickle cell trait that strikes all female children from my parents. Since I love to bake, I decided to find new ways to make treats that we love. I came up with recipes for cakes that ANYONE could enjoy; even people battling Sickle Cell or on restricted diets. I found a great formula that uses organic and natural ingredients. Once my parents tasted what I was making, they knew I was on to something and Nazhi Thee Baker was born! That also gave life to Nazhi Thee Baker Angel Foundation. I use the proceeds of my cakes to buy toys and items needed by children with Sickle Cell, stuck in the hospital for extended periods of time.”
